Anti Wrinkle Creams

We all hope to look younger and improve the appearance of our skin and anti wrinkle creams could be one way to do this.  The question is, do they work?

From department stores, pharmacists to online shops, like Amazon, there are plenty of places to buy creams to reduce wrinkles and reduce the temperance of fine lines and wrinkles.

As you can buy these wrinkle creams over the counter, they are not considered medicine and therefore the scientific research to justify their claims may be limited.  However, they may still offer a modest benefit.

Each cream will work differently for different people.  Whilst it is always good to get a recommendation from a friend, it is also good to remember that everyone’s skin is different and may react differently to different anti wrinkle creams and lotions.

Whilst an anti wrinkle cream certainly won’t offer the appearance of a face lift, it may help minimise the impact of any fine lines and help prevent or reverse damage caused by the sun.

Common ingredients found in anti wrinkle creams

Always be sure to check the packet.  These are some common ingredients in popular anti wrinkle creams.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is an antioxidant that may help protect your skin against damage caused by the sun.

Retinol

Retinol is a compound of vitamin A that is used a lot.  Retinol can help stop oxygen from breaking down the skin cells.

Coenzyme Q10

Coenzyme Q10 may help protect your skin from the sun.

Tea extracts

Compounds from green, black or oolong tea are said to offer anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits.

Grape seed extract

Just like tea extracts, grape seed extract is said to offer anti-inflammatory benefits and help heal any minor wounds the skin has.

Do anti wrinkle creams really work?

They say beauty is in the eye of the holder and the same could be said for anti wrinkle creams.  Try a new skin care regime.  If you want a true and honest idea of how old you look, then take a before and after photo.  Upload your photo to Guess My Age and see if there is any difference.
